A couple Years ago I had a person tell me not to be in denial that Max may not ever progress and not to have too much hope...
I remember those words and I remember how heart broken, mad and upset I was that someone had the nerve to tell me that. I was heart broken because it wasn't too long after we started this journey. I was in unfamiliar terriorty, listening to any advice I was given in hopes to help Max. I think the Mad part came from me being Max's Mom and how dare someone say this to me...Not to have hope...and the Upset part was, what if this Person was actually right...
I spent many days at the beginning wondering about what kind of life Max would have as he became older. Would he talk, Would he be able to attend School, Would he play with other Children, Could he be potty Trained? You just don't know because some Children have a harder time than others. I knew right from the beginning that I needed and would do everything that I possibly could to give him the opportunities to thrive. This is what God choose for us and I needed to do right by my Son.
I have struggled many times...with what was right. I guess looking back there wasn't a right or wrong but I wanted to make sure it was right for Max at the time. I have wasted so much time and energy on worrying and that got me no where except for making myself more upset!
After a while I let these words motivate me in getting Max to do well instead of trying to bring me down. I wanted to prove this person wrong....was this the Christian way...NO, but I wanted to let everyone know that there is Hope! Max is a testimate to that! So are so many other Children! We are given these Children for a reason. Do not loose Hope, keep pushing and Pray! Prayer has been so huge in Max doing well! If it weren't for our Family and Friends Praying for Max, Im not sure where we would be! The Lord has answered Many Prayers for us!
Max has enriched our lives so greatly and we have been extremely blessed. He brings so much Joy and Laughter along with his Sister!
Just this week our little Boy has mastered Potty Training...something I didn't know if he would be able to do but he did!!! Just like all the other things...He is talking, Playing with other Children, Answering questions, Doing well in School and soon will be off to Kindergarten!
Don't focus on what your Children can't do Praise them for what they can! And keep pushing forward! Don't let any one discouarge you. Let it make you Stronger!
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
